Birstall's Festive Lighting
Friday 28 November 2008, 6.00 pm outside KrustysBirstall's Christmas lights were switched on by Mr Les Gale, the 'Panto Dame' of the Methodist Men's Pantomime Group, abetted by his trust Fairy Queen Vicky. Mr Gale is well-known for playing the part of the panto dame in the productions put on by the Methodist Men's Pantomime Group, who always play to sell-out productions year after year. The next production by the Pantomime Group will be Mother Goose in February 2009. Birstall Brass Band, led by Mr Alan Holford played a medley of Christmas carols. The band is made up of students attending Leicestershire Arts in Education College. A crowd of approximately 100 sang along with the Brass Band and the countdown to the switch-on was led by Mr Gale. With very many thanks to Krustys for leaving their shop lights on to enable the band to read their music.
